Doyle Geer had been an important part of ASCA for many years and continued to be involved until he passed away in December of 2004.
Doyle was the mayor of Anacortes when the first ASCA relationship was established with Lomonosov, Russia.
A couple of years later, Doyle oversaw the beginnings of the ASCA relationship with Kisakata, Japan.  This relationship was very special to him.  He made a farewell trip to Kisakata just months before he passed away.
Doyle had also been very active in the Anacortes Youth Sports Coalition.  Because of Doyle’s efforts, ASCA and AYSC developed a strong relationship.
ASCA is honored to name our annual golf tournament after Doyle Geer.  ASCA is pleased to honor Doyle’s children as Lifetime Honorary Players in our annual Golf Tournament.

ASCA Golf Tournament

The Annual ASCA Golf Tournament has been played for several years.  Its primary purpose from the very beginning has been to have a great time, while at the same time, to raise funds for the many and varied programs that the Anacortes Sister Cities Association has developed.  Some of the projects that have benefited from ASCA’s fund-raising include:

  • Lomonosov, Russia – adult and student exchanges, a visit by the Kazakov Family (Russian folk singing champions).
  • Kisakata, Japan – adult cultural visits, visits by the Taiko Drummers, a premier student exchange program.
  • Sidney BC, Canada – “Save Our Ferry” campaign, International Town Crier events, parade exchanges.
