
ANACORTES SISTER CITIES ASSOCIATION
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
February 2, 2006
President Duane Clark called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. He welcomed all, including our guest, Alice Maiolo.
A motion was made by Suzanne, seconded by Don to approve the minutes of the January 12th meeting as recorded and distributed. Motion carried.

Significant Items:
The cookbook revenue in January was $227.00, but $175.00 has not yet been deposited so does not appear in the above total.
The Kisakata Exchange students raised an additional $531.00 and the Vela Luka students raised $278.00
We deposited $660.00 in dues revenues.
Vice President: John Lovric is working on a Power Point presentation for Channel 10. He reviewed the value of our Channel 10 exposure and the advertising of various functions (such as golf tournament, tours, etc.) which can be included with 10 days notice. Duane will produce the needed Power Point and cautions that no more than 3 photos should be used. John is also working on the electrical and flag repairs of the Flag Pavilion.
Assistant to the President: Don Lapworth reported that 18 people have signed up for the trip to
Kisakata:
Cora announced the Anacortes Youth Sports Coalition Dinner/Auction will be held on March 18th, 6:00 pm at the Port. Gere-A-Deli will again provide the food and the auction items are great. Duane has contacted the president of the sister city group in
Other committees are working on items/events to be auctioned.
Vela Luka: Nikki Lovric, chairperson, reported the student meeting to plan fundraisers, including the collection of empty ink cartridges, old cell phones and a breakfast event. John Baker volunteered to bake the bread. Croatian classes will be taught in the near future. The classes will include language, dance, song, cooking, history and culture. The language class will be 22 hours
And the history/culture will be 10 hours. Cost for the 16 classes will be $100.00 and held at the High School on Mondays, beginning in March through June. (Confirmed dates and times will be forthcoming.) 30 students can be accommodated. This is a student fundraiser for their exchange trip.
Nikki introduced the new website: www.kumpanija.org that showcases the performances of the Kumpanija Sword Dancers and Klapa Vela Luka Singers. It also includes a “store” with items to buy, i.e. T-Shirts, etc.
President Duane Clark discussed the lessons he has learned about the promotion of events and organizations through their pursuit of the website: www.kumpanija.org He encouraged all members to go to the website and make purchases. Also donations are always welcome.
Lomonosov: Suzanne Harris announced that the committee has scheduled a meeting at her house on February 27th at 7:00 pm. All members are welcome to join any committee in which they have interest. A trip to Lomonosov is planned for June 2006. Anyone interested in going on the trip, please call Suzanne.
Willy Evans reported that the cookbooks were sold out in December and a second order has arrived. The cookbooks may be purchased at Cap Sante Court Retirement Community, McCool Studio/Gallery, Earthbound Books or by calling Willy Evans direct.
Membership: Diane Davidson reported that 49 members have renewed their membership and 3 new members have joined.
