GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
October 4, 2007

Duane Clark, president, called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.  He welcomed all and mentioned that Wally Funk is getting better each day.  Please keep up the cards and if you wish to visit, please call ahead.  He will probably be a Fidalgo Skilled Nursing Center for another week or so.

MINUTES:  Don Lapworth moved to accept the minutes of September 6, 2007 as distributed.  Theda Morton seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Significant Events:
We sent $2000 to Comarnic, Romania, for the purchase of costumes.  As previously reported, $1000 was donated by members and this amount was matched by the ASCA.
We paid the Town Crier $1,954.08 to reimburse him for expenses involved with putting together his new uniform and related items, and in turn billed the city for $1,304.72 under the tourism promotion contract. 
We also submitted a proposal for tourism promotion funding for 2008, in the amount of $3,300.  This is the same as our funding level in 2007.
We paid Karisa Herrigstad $500 to assist with her trip to Spain, as discussed at last month's meeting.
Cookbook sales netted $100.00.
We transferred $1000 of the foundation grant to the Scholarship fund.  This was at the request of the donor.

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT:  Don Lapworth reported on the funds collected for Comarnic, Romania, for the purchase of costumes.  Contact person is Angela Nasulea in Comarnic.

SIDNEYDavid Rapella, Chairperson and Duane Clark explained the two “gift packages” recently provided as raffle items.  The Anacortes Package was enjoyed by a couple from Sidney.  David met them at the ferry. They enjoyed the “gift”.  The Sidney package, provided at the AYS Auction consisted of approximately $1200.00 of activities in Sidney but has not been experienced yet.

KISAKATA:  Cora Lijek, Co-chairperson, reported on the ice cream social held at her house that provided opportunity for our students to discuss their recent experiences with the Kisakata students that visited us this year.  She reported that Anne Martin-McCool, Co-chair, has had knee surgery and will be “out of circulation” for about six weeks.  Cora and Anne are looking for chaperon to accompany our students to Kisakata, July, 2008.  Don suggested that we need to develop plans for an adult trip to Kisakata.

Duane announced that the CROATIAFEST is October 6 & 7, 2007 at Seattle Center.

MEMBERSHIP:  No report

PROGRAM: Kisakata Students and Kyudo Performance Power Point Presentation, as well as a brief report about the 2007 Golf Tournament.
