The 2007 Audit Committee report attached to last month's minutes incorrectly listed Willy Evans rather than Tom Evans as one of the committee members.

LOMONOSOV:  Don reviewed the committee’s plans for 4 students (2 boys and 2 girls) to go to Lomonosov for 18 days in 2009.  It is hoped that the number of students can be increased in future years.  Zoya (who visited Anacortes with students), a teacher, is coordinating the homestay visit.

KISAKATA/NIKAHO:  Cora reported that the trip to Oak Harbor to enjoy the Taiko Drummers and Dancers was attended by 5 ASCA members.  The committee is still working on an adult trip to Kisakata/Nikaho City in 2009.  She reported that students interested in the Kisakata-Nikaho City student exchange program will be interviewed by a committee on Sunday, Nov. 16 at Fidalgo Elementary School.

SIDNEY; David reminded the members of the November 29th trip to Sidney, B.C. to enjoy a homestay, Christmas Parade and Boat Parade.  He also told us of former member Bob Porter’s experience in WWII as a Navy pilot who was catapulted off an aircraft carrier without his engine “on”.  As the plane was sinking he was able to get out and reach the surface¼and in a matter of minutes a boat picked him up and returned him to the aircraft carrier.   He spent some time in “sick bay” before returning to duty.

VELA LUKA:   Duane read Nikki’s report that 4 students want to come to Anacortes from Vela Luka in 2009.  We will be seeking students interested in going to Vela Luka in the future.

PROGRAM: Christina Heyne presented a very informative, delightful Power Point, “An Educational Adventure in Peru”, for which she explained each picture and helped us “share” her month-long visit.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 pm.

Respectfully submitted,Jo Fuqua
