An outcome of our Sister Cities relationship with Sidney BC, Canada was the establishment of an Anacortes Town Crier program. Judy Jewell was the first Town Crier, followed by Richard Riddell. Anacortes has been well represented around the world in various Town Crier competitions. In August, 2013, Richard Riddell, in a competition in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, won the “World Invitational Town Crier Competition.” The Anacortes Town Crier program is supported by ASCA, the City of Anacortes, and the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce.
