Although the first official Sister Cities visit to Vela Luka occurred in 2003, the first opportunity for the Mayors of Anacortes and Vela Luka to meet was in September of 2004. During this visit over 20 ASCA members enjoyed their first visit with Vela Luka residents and delighted in the food and friendship they found. During this visit an olive tree was planted by both Mayors in a ceremony celebrating the friendship between the two cities.
